Today on Valentine's Day everyone is scurrying about trying to get roses, candy, cards, and gifts for their beloved valentine and all of that is wonderful and is a beautiful thing to recognize the ones that you love.
Today though, I want to talk about a Greater love, a love that is inexplicable. A love that is so far above our ability with our fallible minds to comprehend.
Today I want to talk about the love of God. John 3:16 tells us that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, so that whosoever would believe in Him would have everlasting life.
He loves us with an everlasting love, His mercies are new every single morning. He sings over us, He watches over us, protects us, heals us, delivers us, provides for us and has, as children of God,made us joint- heirs with His son Jesus! WOW! Now that is love! Nothing can compare to the love of God. This love is a perfect love that casts out all fear, it is a love that changes lives and makes our crooked paths straight.
He has called us to love as well, in John 15:12-13 He says, "This is my commandment, that ye love one another as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends. The Father had that kind of love when He sent Jesus to this Earth to be born of a virgin, to live a sinless life, to die on a cruel cross, to be buried and rise again on the third day. Jesus had that kind of love when He was in the Garden of Gethsemane and the weight of the world was on His shoulders as He prayed Father not my will but thine be done. He went to that whipping post for our healing, He died on that cross for our sins. Isaiah 53:5 tells us that He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities and the chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his stripes we are healed.
Today I am grateful for the greatest love of all time! For the love of God that has provided a way for our salvation, healing, deliverance and prosperity. Thank you God for your unspeakable gift! Today as you think about Valentine's Day and love and gifts, just take a moment to be grateful and to thank God for sending His son Jesus Christ, the greatest Valentine's gift of all.
